Felipe Araya es un ingeniero mecánico de Venezuela, que forjó su destino en Chile después de completar una maestría en estudios de negocios en la Universidad Católica. Junto con Virginia Días, una educadora, socia del proyecto y su esposa, desarrollaron el Sistema Interactivo Modular Antropomórfico: Sima.

«En enero de 2016, armé el primer prototipo, inspirado en mi amor por hacer robots para mi hijo», dice Araya de Las Vegas. Uno de estos modelos incorporó un teléfono inteligente como medio para dar vida a un personaje cuyo cuerpo era plástico, pero cuyo cerebro estaba controlado por una aplicación. Este fue el nacimiento de la idea de crear Sima, no como un juguete sino como un robot social.

«Basamos el proyecto en un documento de la Universidad de Tokio sobre el uso de robots en las escuelas, aplicamos a Start-Up Chile y, en agosto de 2016, comenzamos a trabajar en un proyecto que, en ese momento, era una locura». dice Araya

Felipe Araya is a mechanical engineer from Venezuela, who forged his destiny in Chile after completing a master’s degree in business studies at the Catholic University. Together with Virginia Días, an educator, a partner in the project, and his wife, they developed the Interactive Modular Anthropomorphic System: Sima.

«In January 2016, I put together the first prototype, inspired by my love of making robots for my son,» says Araya from Las Vegas. One of these models incorporated a smartphone as a means of giving life to a character whose body was plastic, but whose brain was controlled by an application. This was the birth of the idea of creating Sima, not as a toy but as a social robot.

«We based the project on a document from the University of Tokyo on the use of robots in schools, we applied to Start-Up Chile and, in August 2016, we started working on a project that, at that time, was crazy» . says Araya
